my dogs used to love raspberries, like truly madly deeply. they'd go along the brambles nibbling them off. it was hyseterical. had to fight for enough to make jam. they left the chokecherries alone though.

we have lots of blackberries, black raspberries, raspberries, blueberries, peaches, apples, crabapples... tons of stuff. you have to look relly carefully for the wild strawberries, first you see the tiny white flowers, in places where the grass grows thin, and then the teeny tiny berries, but they only last a few days.

chokecherries are very sour cherries, kind of bitter almost, they can only be used in jelly, but they make the tartest, nicest, clearest, reddest, bestest jelly ever.

they call them that cause if you wat them out of hand they are a little.... chokey... but i like sour so i never had a problem with them.

but better for jelly.

.... we make our own jelly, but maybe you're thinking of what we call jello? i'm talking about jam but without fruit, strained and clear, spread on toastand such.

my favorite's hot pepper jelly. on cream cheese and crackers. yummmmmmm.
