i alwys thought it was like a series of questions and answers people were supposed to memorize, but i never looked it up and that was a way lot of stuff to read on the fly.

The catechism actually teaches us to embrace them and that every sign of unjust discrimination towards them is to be avoided. Now it also says that homosexual acts are wrong and that they should practice chastity.

 

But that is very different from what many Catholics thinks the Church teaches. It is also very different from what all the fundamental religions teach.

I've only been to NY once. Rush hour was very interesting with nearly every car being funneled towards the tunnels/bridge.

i always wodered how people got from don't cast the first stone and all the laws being superceded by, is it the golden rule basically? and yet hand on to parts of the OT that even most jews let go. leviticus 18 where it's called an abomination using the same language as touching the skin of a pig - but i don't know any christians who have issues with pork or footballs.

 

also the same wording as wearing wool and linen together... abomination... so just seemed a really weird thing for people to latch on to.

 

but as usual, the humans are mistaken.

with no traffic it was 30 minutes.

 

traffic is hell. and there's no way that island can ever be evacuated, and that is something i never stopped thinking about when i lived there.

 

i beg my family to get farther away from there but they don;t share my paranoia.

Yeah the light turned red at an intersection and I stopped at the line and my uncle screamed at me to keep going, that we'd be lynched for doing that. I'm surprised there are cars that drive in that traffic that don't have dents in them. It was an experience I'll never forget.

i never drove in the city and i don;t think i could have managed it... even if i could i could never have parked. but my mom did every day. she drives like a cabdriver.

 

she actually pulled off the street and onto the sidewalk once cause there was no other way to move, and pulled such a sweet clueless routine when she got stopped the policeman just laughed and let her go.

 

but they're pretty mellow if you're not pointing a gun at them.

I'm pretty dure I can't imagine it, for all that I've seen of it in movies and tv shows I don't think I can get my head quite around the numbers, Cape Town is pretty puny in comparison, I mean our CBD (Central Business District) has about 4 skyscrapers, and even those are pretty small

the summers i spent there during college after my stepdad moved the family to a great neighborhood in manhattan were the best in my life.

 

and the second part of high school when i could pretty much roam free a lot of the time, also excellent. never bored there, never wanted to stay home.
