does anyone here donate blood?

I'm AB+ which is fairly rare so I try to go at least 3 times a year.

as far as I can tell AB+, while rare is also has a very narrow spectrum. You can receive blood from any other blood group but your blood can only be given to other AB+ people (this of course doesn't mean you should stop donating). on the other hand an O blood type means anyone can be given your blood but you can only receive blood from other O people

Requirements for donation are:

  • Weigh at least 50kg;
  • Between ages of 16 and 65;
  • Healthy;
  • Lead a sexually safe lifestyle; and
  • Consider your blood safe for transfusion
