pumpkin picking

(do they carve pumpkins in other parts of the world??)

Not here. Halloween isn't really acknowledged at all. A handful of random kids might door knock, but they're largely considered annoyances and usually don't even dress up. They just want free lollies, not that they're very successful I don't think.

(another plus to living out in the middle of nowhere, no neighbouring kids could come lolly hunting unless their parents drove them, it's too far.)

Ok I think we spammed out the best things about fall.

So lets switch to best Halloween Candy. (or candy in general)

Reese's peanut butter pumpkins. They are soooooooooooooooo good.

 I'm waaaaaaaaaay past neck deep.

Something else I like that isn't really Halloween candy but some might say seasonal is brittle, with whichever nut is around, peanut, almond, macadamia, etc.

hershey bar. the big one. i just get a mess of them. children leave happy.

also make halloween houses out of them. much better than the gingerbread ones. decorate with all kinds of little candies, but only the ones that are good to eat. put together with melted chocolate. smashed to bits after the holiday and squirreled away in the freezer for kiddie sncaks as allowed.

i must say, i've never been happier or prouder to be an american than on these last few pages.

ok, maybe for a couple months after 1776 came out. but otherwise, right here, right now.

I have never heard of any of those.

Peanut butter pumpkins?? Doesn't sound all that appetizing lol

Tooooooo many to pick from, I have no favourite!

My desire to work over there one day has drastically increased since I joined DM

Reese's Peanut butter Cups, but pumpkin shaped. peanut butter and chocolate is awesome. Loved those old commercials.

Peanut butter and chocolate? Never tried it, maybe I should, maybe. Very glad to hear it's not actually pumpkin or pumpkin flavoured though!

I actually also want to try the infamous American peanut butter and jelly sandwhich. Though I'm thinking the jelly part might be a little different to what i imagine...

...never tried it... good lord... we should be sending you guys candy...

? jelly is jelly. you want concord grape or strawberry.

and then you want to dip the whole thing in french toast batter and fry it in butter till golden brown.

and then you want to either just eat it like that or wake up your pancreas with some maple syrup. cor ice cream and whipped cream. and chocolate syrup.

and some sauteed bananas...

and...

um, yeah, yogurt's good.

*sigh*

They also make them egg shaped for Easter and Christmas tree shaped for Christmas.

Lol.

I don't know, the jelly in movies looks different, like some sort of jelly paste or something.

Uh, actually that kinda sounds ridiculous... I don't know

Well those pumpkin patch things don't look as bad as they sound. Now I really wana try some!

I like how they make em in different shapes, that's cool!

LOL! Vegemite and jelly... now that would be disgusting!

With butter = yummy!!

but you absolutely cannot mix it with anything sweet!

i think there may be an international misunderstanding on what is jelly and what is jello.

jelly is basically jam made out of strained fruit juice instead of smashed whole fruit.

jelly and jam are both thickened by pectin.

jello is thickened by gelatin, and is a much less sweet, and sometimes not sweet at all, concontion. aspic is gelatin, jello without sugar and with meaty goodness.

hope this helps?

Wow... um... sort of. It tells me I was right, from my point of view anyway.

We don't say jello. What you call jello, we call jelly except that it's always sweet, and certainly not meaty lol.

We don't have an equivalent for your 'jelly' though we do have jam.

This is very educational, I love learning about how things are done outside of Aus!

.... how can you have no jelly? i do not understand? is it possible you have just never made any? or seen any?

how...

my mind is blown...

i want to send you food...

aspic, actually quite good. sometimes veggie, like tomato. sometimes beef broth. my favorite way is a thin coating on a goose liver mousse pate with a bit of truffle. nummy yums.

jello is also great when mixed with your favorite alcohol and done as shots. MMmm good.
