there's a difference between swearing when you're with your friends and then with an acquaintance, I don't swear much myself, but I'm usually not too bothered about other people

Honestly, I think it's all perception. You can't say "this is how it is" because it's really all based on preference and how people view the whole idea of swearing. I know some people don't call it profane at all, just a regular part of vocabulary.

Personally, I see no difference. If you KNOW someone is okay with swearing, great. If you DON'T, even if they're your friend, don't swear. Find out, first.

Like I have a friend who swears when she's not around me, and occasionally she'll let something slip when we're talking, and I really don't feel comfortable. It kind of kills the conversation except that we've become able to kind of gloss over it. Turn it into some sort of humorous conversation where we insult each other for a few seconds and move on. "Yeah, I know I just used that word, I'm a totally terrible person."

"Yes, you are. You're so mean!"

"OH MY GOSH, did you hear? So-and-so called me NICE the other day!!! WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?!"

And so on.

I just...don't like it. People can defend it all they want, but I'm never going to be comfortable with conversational swearing.

My mom has a response to us when we say "freaking this" or "freaking that."

Like I walk into the kitchen and accidentally slam my hip against the corner of the table.

"FRIKKETY FRAK! THAT FREAKING TABLE!"

"Really? It's a FREAKING table, not just a regular one? How exactly does it freak?"

XD

that works less if its colloquially pronounce frikking

Lol naw, she does that, too.

"What's a fricking table, anyway? I didn't know those existed!"
