basically I id something like this

 

m*9.8 + m*1.6 = m*11.4

 

which give me the right answer and I checked it again to give me a variable I know, I just don't remember doing maths like that before

v^2 = u^2 + 2as

s = ut + 0.5at^2

you still use the equation with u, our equations don't use it as a symbol anymore

v^2 = u^2 + 2as

 

vf^2 = vi^2 + 2a(delta)t

 

would be my equation, same thing, just different symbols
