Alexander's treatment of Greek cities of Ionia ~

liberated and gave 'em back their freedom, and replaced teh Persian oligarchies wiv democracy again. Not for love of the system but because Persians had favored teh oligarchies and he wanted to be the opposite XD Anyway, none of le Greek cities had to pay the tribute to Alex, but he did make them join the League of Corinth (which all mainland Greek states belonged to) so they had to pay a 'contribution' to that anyway lol :P

Treatment of financial arrangements in Phoenicia and Asia Minor ~

He continued making his own Macedonians the satraps of the provinces, but provided separate control for finance and military - a three-tiered administrative system. In Phoenicia, the individual tax collectors handed all they'd gathered over to Coeranus who controlled all tax matters there. In Asia Minor, all collections were brought to Philoxenus who held the same position there...and then these two passed their totals on to the tax head honcho Harpalus, who looked after Alexander's treasury...

Why did they need all those middle men, spammit!:rolleyes:
