immersion seems to be what this guy emphasises, so find books, newspapers, blogs, movies, music anything in the right language that you enjoy and run with it, learn the language as it's used there, learning rules and pure classroom language will get you to know how to say stuff but you're going to sound weird saying it

immerse yourself like a baby learning the language, in this respect you are a baby - you know nothing. Learn by listening, learn from context, learn from fun - you'll get there eventually. If a baby can go from zero to fluent in three years you can too (just try and skip the mindless blather and drool stages)
