Changes are happening at Bishops

That just sounds wrong

Can't say the changes aren't unexpected

I think the school board finally realised that blatantly flouting the law for six years was a bad idea

Maybe they were scared of getting sued...

I wonder if I could sue them...

 

For blatant disregard of the SA schools act put in place two years before my grade 8 year

On principle I might, in practice I'd probably lose

Too much to lose for Bishops, money and bad press and donations maybe

And bishops likes its money

Those headmaster's houses and sport pavilions don't build themselves

Well that was a cynical rant

Any way those rules were something like

 

no initiation (isn't that already a rule?)

No punishment by boys on other boys

no form ups

no using newboy for personal use

No newboys in matric rooms/study

I haz to leave for un months of so, meany parents. Prolly will be lurking this thread though

letting boys punish boys, letting initiation, or initiation-like practices take place, or not doing enough to stop it. Those are the ones directly against the law

which wasn't all bad. The punishment was necessary to keep the school running, I think we have a better system in place now though. Initiation also has it's ups and downs but its end does not surprise me

maybe that's more of a problem than the actual old system. I dunno, my school's been around for so long and things stay the same for ages so I wouldn't be surprised that it sounds all outdated and old and not nice, but I turned out fine, and it really isn't that bad
