gametophyte -->by mitosis produces gametes --> fertilisation makes a sporophyte --> sporophytes develop --> meiosis --> makes spores (gametophytes)

copulation is the process by which sperm from the male is deposited into the females reproductive system after ejaculation

Fertilisation is the fusing of a sperm and egg's nuclei to form a diploid zygote which then develops into a morula, blastocyst and embryo

if implantation occurs the levels of oestrogen and progesterone do not drop - in fact they increase to the levels needed to maintain pregnancy

After 4 months the placenta becomes the major producer of oestrogen and progesterone (taking over from the ovaries). These hormones thicken the endometrium, increase blood supply to the uterus and breasts and relax the muscles of the uterus, allowing for space for the growing baby
