So one of the coolest things about this year is that now I can understand quite a wide variety of medically things

Which means I can talk about them with my mom

Or I can get quite a bit of a deeper understanding of something I've seen before

Like what killed Robert Jordan

Cardiac amyloidosis

Which would mean deposition of amyloid in the heart

Which would, in layman's terms, make the heart quite hard and inflexible

Which would make it hard for it to beat 

Or at least that's what I can infer

Knowing nothing more about the disease than it's name

And they treated him with a drug that was cleared for use with Alzheimer's

But they didn't know how it would work on this type of amyloidosis

Because Alzheimers is caused by another type of amyloidosis

So maybe the same treatment would work, because they're both types of amyloid, and maybe not because they are different

It's very nice to know that what I learn is... applicable. I'm not just doing this for fun
