Lethal Weapon Reboot

Think that potential "Lethal Weapon" reported on the other day is just a pipe dream? Think again as producer Joel Silver has hired Will Beall to write the script for the reboot at Warner Bros. Pictures reports Deadline.

Beall is a former LA police officer who patrolled South Central and wrote the novel L.A. Rex. He's also penned a few episodes of ABC hit series "Castle" and the crime drama "The Gangster Squad" which Ruben Fleischer is directing and is currently targeting a 2013 release.

Beall's pitch for the film proposed "a hard R-rated edgy street cop movie" that will relaunch the buddy cop series with a new cast but keep the tone of the original.

Not long ago Warner Bros. Pictures had previously been considering a "Lethal Weapon 5" with a treatment written by original scribe Shane Black, however that ultimately fell through.
