Perrin surprised Slayer in the Two Rivers. Slayer was toying with Perrin and underestimated him, so Perrin got the jump on him. Slayer's all business now.

Perrin vs Slayer....

 

should have ended in ToM. I thought he should have died MUCH earlier but I see he had a decent purpose in Maseana's demise. I don't know what kind of role Slayer will play in the Last Battle but if he has a "footnote death" then I will consider this a disappointment.
