Hi folks,

I happened upon your community while searching for information on the upcoming WoT movie. As a huge WoT fan, I figured that I should sign up.

Let me tell you something about myself.

I've been a fantasy fan since I was given a David Eddings book back in 1992 Soon after I was reading R.A. Salvator and, of course, Tolkien. It was in '94 that I was first given a copy of The Eye of the World. After that I was a fanatic. I quickly read through the series (or what was available at the time) and have waited patiently for each new book to be released.

I was greatly saddened by the passing of Robert Jordan (may he rest in peace) but I have been impressed by Brandon Sanderson's work on both The Gathering Storm and Tower of Midnight. Now I am awaiting A Memory of Light to conclude my 18 year love affair with the WoT. I am also quite excited for the release of the movies and the games. Let's hope that Universal and Red Eagle take the time to do the series justice.

Oh, and I'm also an enthusiastic gamer. I enjoy video games like the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series and I play a little Magic the Gathering from time to time.

I'm very happy to be here and I look forward to chatting with you all.

Welcome to DM Ashur! We all love having new members here so I'm sure you'll receive a warm welcome. I, personally, was unaware the talk of the movie was becoming a reality, but then again I've been pretty busy with school and preparing for studying abroad in Spain (which is where I now am, and surprisingly have a lot more time than I thought I would!). I have yet to read the two books that Sanderson has done, mostly because of time constraints, but I look forward to reading them as soon as possible/found them! Oh I've read some of Salvator's works, mainly the Dark Elf Trilogy. I really enjoyed it but then I realized the series was like never-ending and I started college and when I started college the only books I could ever get to were the ones assigned (it's the blessing and curse of an English major I suppose).

Funny you mention Magic the Gathering...my boyfriend taught me how to play that about a week before I left for Spain. Oh the ways my geeky boyfriend and I spend quality time together haha

Anyways, I'm Jea, second in command of the Band of the Red Hand social org and an aes sedai of the brown ajah of the white tower social org. Over at the Band we have lots of music and travel type stuff, while over at the Browns we have lots of discussions about anything and everything, and a book challenge for 2011 of reading 100 books in the year (sign up if you're interested! you don't have to join the org or ajah to participate ;) ).

Also, if you stop by anywhere you find me, I'll be sure to give you plenty more of these: *hands the newbie a plate of extra special chocolate fudge brownies and a large glass of brew tea, after eating and drinking some herself* Ah delicious!

Welcome to Dragonmount Ashur!

I'm sure you'll find this place to have everything a WoT fan needs. There is discussion and theory threads for the series, fun social groups based on those of the books (really just places to hang out and chat with fellow fans), and WoT RolePlaying boards where you can enter Randland with your own character.

Anyway, hope you enjoy yourself here and see you around!
