He could have hidden something totally unrelated to WoT just so he can enjoy the fun of having us all theorising about nothing. That's nasty.

 

AS for the release date, 4 months after reading ToM, I'm not in the rush anymore, I don't need my fix, so I'm wishing for a "as long as it's needed" and it's all the better if it's real long, cause it will be the last. After the last book, there will be no more waiting, only remembering or re-reading. Waiting is part of the fun, excitement for me, so right now, I'm willing for the best book that can be done with RJ out of this planet. Must it take 3 years to be so.

I'm not one to give credence to these nut-jobs who say the world will end in December 2012. But please.. just in case.. get it out as soon as :tongue:.

Don't worry. The world's not supposed to end until December 2012, so if he gets the book out in March, you'll still have 8 full months to read it. And who knows, maybe the world's not really gonna end, we'll just enter the Second Age and someone will discover how to channel. I'm betting it'll be found out by some guy named Tom and some gal name Reilly, and it'll involve the creation of some sort of wearable ring.

"Alloy of Law" on the other hand is a pretty strong name :)

You know, Alan from Team Jordan. Who works with timelines and logistics and whatnot. Who would have an outline for the story that Brandon would have to integrate into his writing.

So, it sounds like Fall of 2012 is more likely now? According to scattered reports from JordanCon? I can't say I'm disappointed. In a way, I'm relieved for two reasons: 1. aMoL will have a much better review/editing process than ToM did (not that it bothered me that much, but there were some real mistakes that should not have been overlooked) and 2. My hope of going to JordanCon next year (the last one BEFORE the release of the last book) is strengthened. For some reason I feel like JordanCon won't be quite as exciting once the final book is out.

 

Also, does anybody else hope that Brandon Sanderson does another one of those "Great Hunts" related to the release of aMoL? I would absolutely love to be a part of that again. Only, it would be great if it was much larger/wider spread for the last book. Maybe Tor would even consider sponsoring it, rather than just having Brandon do it on his own time!

I am starting to be worried about the 2% not increasing...I get a trip to England and time away from three kid for the release of AMOL, so I am extra impatient :happy:

The number increases slowly as Brandon is both writing and MOSTLY re-reading right now. However, he recently tweeted that he hasn't been able to update the progress bar recently even though he has been doing some more writing, because his website has been having troubles as he moves to a new hosting server.

A technical question for the professional authors out there.. why is he using Courier font?

The Courier font is often used in typesetting because every character is spaced exactly the same. For example, using Times New Roman, the "i" and "l" characters have smaller space allowance than the "w" character. Using the Courier font, you get uniform spacing which allows for a sometimes more accurate word/page count estimate.

 

Of course, he could simply just prefer the Courier font.

God I just can't wait for AMOL. But then again, knowing that after this one its over... I've been reading this series for so long its gonna be weird not to expect another one after that! But hey... we need closure don't we? :P

I could see it coming out around summer of 2012 based on the fact that Brandon said he'd like to finish it by the end of 2011 so then they'd spend a few months revising it. If he finishes by the end of the year then I doubt it'll take another year to revise it

QFT! I don't care how long he takes, it HAS to be done properly, thoroughly and epically. But please...... just in case (them Mayans were badass dudes when it comes to timing and astronomy)...... make it by November, at least. :unsure:

Anyone else think that the end of the word in the text could be 'rolm' which I would guess is actually 'Grolm'?

 

Edit: Just tried some other possiblities using Courier New and its more likely to be 'cain' I think.

I would say it's the end of the word 'mountain', for all the good that does us.
