Blade Runner Prequel and Sequel

Featured Replies

Alcon Entertainment (“The Blind Side,” “The Book of Eli”) is in final discussions to secure film, television and ancillary franchise rights so they can create prequels and sequels to Ridley Scott's iconic 1982 science-fiction thriller “Blade Runner.”

This would mark the Warner Bros-based financing and production company most significant property acquisition in its thirteen year history. The franchise rights would be all-inclusive, aside from one very specific exclusion - they do NOT have the right to remake the original.

They can however produce projects based on situations introduced in the original, namely other stories set in that universe and using elements such as Replicants, Blade Runners and the Tyrell Corporation. Bud Yorkin, Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove would produce any projects that emerge from this deal.

Warner Bros. Pictures would distribute domestically, international rights have yet to be determined.
