Friday Afternoon movie: The Departed

Yep, so every Friday my friend and I head up to the local cinema and check out the most interesting movie. Today's movie, as you might have guessed from the title is Martin Scorsese's The Departed.

I am going to start off with what will sound like a bold statement, but when you think about it after you have seen it I am absolutely right. So far this year this is the best movie I have seen on the big screen. The casting was brilliant and the acting some of the best I have seen this year. Keep in mind this is a gritty crime drama on par with such classics as Goodfellas and possibly The Godfather. I have no doubt that Leo (and I hate him for some reason) will get an Oscar nod for his performance and unless another movie blows me away this holiday season, Scorsese will finally have his own statue for his mantle.

Check it out, but leave the kids at home. As with all Scorsese films, there is plenty of blood and bad language.

Do you agree? Disagree? Respond with your opinions.

Is it a new movie? Never heard of it, and I thought I had a pretty good check on Scorsese's back catalogue.

Cool, think I must make sure to see it asap.

Just got around to see it, and Oh la la, pretty gosh darn awesome.

I definitly agree that both Leo and Scorsese should get an Oscar nod. I wouldn't be too surprised if Nicholson got a nod as well, back to the character he does best, and he steals almost every scene he's in.

And if that's how shrinks look, I think I need to see one :D

I took Yveva to it this weekend... interested to hear her take on the movie, but again I enjoyed it. I am not usually a guy that sees a movie two times in a theatre.
