When I read Hinderstrap in TGS, even though it had already been long-established that the Pattern is bending and the dead are walking, I was still like ''HUH??? Where did THAT come from - Sanderson just get a craving for a Zombie Story???!!!"

 

Well. In LOC, Mazrim Taim tells Rand that he has already heard tales of quiet villages suddenly going crazy and the villagers all killing each other.

Bashere is there wanting to kill him and its near the part where Taim tells the story of how he came across one of the Seals on a farm somewhere (supposedly).
