Unique character names

Have you ever noticed that nobody in all of Randland shares the same first name? How many Michaels are their in the United States?

If someone else lost an eye, they should get to be named Uno as well...

Darn name copyrights!

It's already more than most of us can do to keep people whose names are similar straight. If many of the characters shared first or last names, it'd be totally impossorus.

There is some random commoner in one of the towns in the first half of the series that shared a name with a main character. He was never mentioned again, I think maybe someone called him by his name and that was it. I can't remember the name though.

Most books are like that.

Its not saying there are NO other Rands out there but they just dont appear in the books. That or the three ta'veren do the opposite and repel them all. :)

Totally agree. Too many of the names are too close to each other to keep track of.

Right, but who has enough brain cells to read all the books and keep track of all the 60 or so NAMED charecters and multinamed charecters. To quote aznprince001,

"I really hated it when R.J had the character named Eaganin...It sounded and looked too close to egwene."

I hated that too.

 I also have trouble keeping ALL the Forsaken and Aiel and Aes Sedai AND all extraneous charecters like Eaganin!!!

There are two Aes Sedai in the White Tower involved in the Black Ajah hunt who have got almost the exact same name. It irritates me beyond belief.

Maybe you guys should borrow the audiobook(s) from the library. I have most of them and the readers do a good job of distinguishing between characters. Also, the audiobooks may help to illustrate pronunciation. Just my thoughts

:?: I heard an Audio Book from this guy, L. Ron Hubbard, called Kingslayer: Seven Steps to the Arbiter,

and they had different charecters voices and sound effects.. are RJ's Audio Books like that? :?:

The audio books are read by A male and a female for the different perspectives, but when females are talking and the male does them you can understand, really good voice acting.

I'm pretty surprised on thinking that there isn't any identical names =\

l.Ron Hubbard has to be one of the people that pisses me off most in the world (though hes dead) i HATE the cult scientology it pisses me off i HATE tom cruise.
