I read Eye of the World for the first time when I was 11 years old. I'm now 30, and on the eve (so to speak) of the release of the final installment of the Wheel of Time series, I've decided to join a discussion forum. WoT was the first epic fantasy series I ever got really into. I also introduced my younger sister to the series, and read the first six books aloud to my mother. I've read the first five books at least a hundred times, the next five perhaps 20 or so, and my workable knowledge of the series is pretty solid. But more to the point, I just love the darn thing. And let's face it, there is no better series to provoke a person to try their hand at awkward and dubious fan art. I'm also a cultural anthropology and folktale/mythology nerd, so the series appeals to my sense of borrowing and balance. Although I've taken a few "breaks" from WoT (most notably a few years after slogging through Crossroads of Twilight), I always come back to it, and it's been a part of my life for nearly two decades.

I'm super excited to see this series reach its culmination, and I have girded my loins in preparation to geek out hardcore.
