Wheel of Time DikuMUD

Featured Replies

I'm trying to find this old ('90's?) DikuMUD I used to play based on the Wheel of Time series.

From what I can remember:

1. ANSI color

2. Computer-controlled shops that sold various potions that could allow you to do just about anything (faster attacks, heal damage, take half damage, etc.)

3. Sometimes, these shops were closed at "night."

4. Bags (cloaks?) that could hold unlimited amounts of stuff.

5. A thief-type class that had the skill "circle," where you got a huge attack but then the monster would attack you directly. If two thieves got together, they could circle-jerk a monster to death.

6. An alignment system where you could become good or evil based on what you killed.

7. Trolloc was a playable class.

8. Multiple types of coins, just like the books.

If you played this game, you might remember me: Hal the Ogier. Afaik, I was the only Ogier in the game. The only unique skill the Ogier got was the ability to detect the stats on armor and weapons, which was pretty weak compared to the other classes.

I played on Web of Destiny and Broken Seals (both DIKU MUDs) and it sounds like you could have played on Web of Destiny? Broken Seals had the Sphere system of magic but with very little potions. WoD had the usual mana based magic along with potions. I think Isabel and Leila were mods there.

Yeah, I tried looking too but they appear to have disappeared. It looks like they mught have tried to retool as Mirrors of the Wheel but even that looks to be dead. It is a shame. I liked playing on there. My name on Web of Destiny was Luc ( Saldean ) and Rufae (Seanchan). I was like one of the only Seanchan players for a while too.

5. A thief-type class that had the skill "circle," where you got a huge attack but then the monster would attack you directly. If two thieves got together, they could circle-jerk a monster to death.

I want nothing whatsoever to do with this game...
