Rand's Hand

Hello all!

My first post. Ok in KoD when Rand loses his hand.... why doesn't he just use balefire to get it back? He has used it in the past and wasn't too worried about the consequences, I would think that for his hand he would remove a "chosen" from the pattern and feel perfectly A-O.K.

Let me know what ya'll think this has bugged me since day two of the release of KoD.

Cal,

If Rand could not atack Lanfear in TFoh whats to say that he could atack Semi or any of the other FEMALES present at that time. remember his orders to the Asha-Man to not kill the Damme in TPoD.

Rand did not reguard the loss of a hand as a terrible loss. The gain from having a captive forsaken is massive... i doubt it would occur to him at all to use balefire.

Rand has gotten to the point where everything, even himself, are just tools to be used to reach an end. His hand gone is no big deal, he can weave without it and the only thing that bothers him slightly is having to relearn the sword forms. Even Min comments on it, can't remember her exact words but basically now that it is gone, he doesn't worry about it.

Thanks for the responses - it never even occured to me that Rand would not kill another woman even a Forsaken. That makes at least a little more sense to me now.

Nice to see things in a new light and not how I would approach things.
