Though I think she meant "you couldn't have said that in high school" not 'you could have said that..."

Kat: she was referring to his spelling BITHC...which is not a word and so not a swear word so he could have used it in high school.

I understood what she was saying, but her sentence doesn't make sense as it stands. He said "I couldn't say it in high school" She said "you could have said that in high school, since 'BITHC' is not a real word."

 

I believe she meant 'couldn't', since you can't say words that aren't real. Her sentence doesn't make sense as it stands. I wouldn't have been nit picky, since I think the rest of her message was priceless and she put him in his place so well, but from her being so picky at him she should have re read her post before she sent it.
