Physical Description: Not overly tall, at around 5'3", Denae has deep brown hair, which falls in soft waves down her back and around a rather plain face. While not unattractive, there is nothing noteable about her appearance, her figure slim yet feminine. Her eyes are also a deep brown, and quite intense, giving her an intelligent and warm air. Her skin is pale, with a sprinkling of freckles across her nose, making her appear younger than she is.

Place of birth: Born and raised in Cairhien, Denae is the youngest daughter of four. Her parents operate a small store in the city, specialising in herbs and plants, both dried and fresh. While not an overly prosperous store, it allowed the family to be relatively comfortable, also giving the means for all of the girls to be educated, learning to read and write, among other skills.

Age: 16

Character History: Denae\'s life was predictable. Most days she helped in the family store, drying herbs for medicines, or arranging floral decorations. When she wasn\'t working, she was studying, her nose often buried in a book, or she was indulging her artistic flair, sketching and painting the beautiful things she saw. It was a happy life, but predictable.

Denae was happy with her relatively quiet life. She didn\'t seek adventure as some did, or fame and fortune, but was content, with her art and her books. Never one to seek out attention or social interactions, she was considered a quiet girl, though she was always friendly and polite with her customers and her family. She had few friends, preferring the company of her books or her sisters, though she was liked by those who knew her. Somewhat timid, she had a gentle temperament, preferring almost anything to open conflict, even putting her own opinion aside in order to maintain harmony.

Content as she was with her life, Denae was given to daydreaming, her mind and imagination always vivid and active. She would never act on her imaginings, but they were entertaining nonetheless, and she was content for fantasy to remain fantasy. That was until the day a woman of indeterminate years entered their humble shop, her very presence spoke of wealth and importance. Fixing a welcoming smile to her face, Denae made ready to serve the woman, when her eyes caught the glint of a ring on her finger, one she recognised from one of her many books. The woman was an Aes Sedai.

Suddenly nervous, Denae did her best to serve the woman, who was regal enough to rival any queen. Her clothing was exquisite, and she seemed to wear authority like a cloak. It was the most intriguing encounter Denae had ever made. It was as she was wrapping the woman\'s parcel that she asked the most curious question of her sister, causing Denae\'s eyes to widen in wonder. \"Tell me child, have you been tested to see if you can channel?\" The question seemed harmless enough, but Denae couldn\'t help slipping into one of her fantasies, the one where she was an Aes Sedai with unlimited power at her finger tips. It was her most secret fantasy, one she never dared tell anyone about.

Before she quite knew what was happening, Denae found herself lined up with her three sisters, her parents watching anxiously as the woman held a emerald green gem in front of her sister. Their power came from gems? That didn\'t ring true, not from what she had read. Her sister stood there for so long, to no avail, the Aes Sedai declaring that she did not have the gift. Denae let out a sigh, she would hate for her sister to be whisked away. Last in the line, she lost herself in her imaginings again, only to find the Aes Sedai standing in front of her. Racking her mind for the last few comments, she blinked when she heard her other too sisters were considered too old, that she would now be tested.

\"Clear your mind of all thought, and just focus on the gem.\" Crooned the woman, and Denae obeyed, too scared to think of doing otherwise. How long she stared she did not know, but suddenly she sensed light, as though it came from the gem. Why was the woman smiling? Why did her family appear so tense? \"Congratulations child, you have the ability to channel.\" Denae\'s mouth fell open...surely it was a mistake. Bereft of speech, she could only stand silently by as arrangements were made for her to leave with the Aes Sedai the next day for Tar Valon. Leave? No! Yet she remained silent as always, not wanting to disgrace her parents. Light, but she did not want to leave, she did not want adventure, even though it seemed to have chosen her.

So her belongings were packed, her precious books and paints first, and whatever else she could fit followed. Denae packed as though in a daze, still unbelieving that she would be leaving her home, her family, her life. It was not until she was on horseback, Cairhien firmly behind her, that it sunk in. Reluctant or not, Denae was about to find her adventure.
