So i have been reading WOT for years and years and years. I have reread them too many times to count. I truly love the take on the books "magic" very different and i love it. I own all of the books in Hardcover, and all of the books that you can in paperback, and soon all the Kindle edition ones. These books are by far my most favorite "fade to black/non-gore" high fantasy. If you wont get what i mean, its that no sex scenes, and no real gore/gross stuff. I do understand these forums are for WoT, but i cant be the only one to read other books while waiting for the newest book to be released. I have to say my second most favorite series for "light" high fantasy are The Runelords. Again i truly love their type of "magic" and runelore. While i was in the book store trying to find another great series to read i found A Song of Ice and Fire. Im sure you all know what series im talking about its had been recently made into TV show on HBO *praise the light* i have never been more excited about a tv show ever in my life. I only wish they would make WOT into movies or tv series lol. Now back to A Song of Ice and Fire these are what i like to call "heavy" high fantasy hardcore core in incredible detail, and not to mention very vivid sex scenes. No "fade to black" scenes in these books. Again the plot twists are crazy and you can never see whats going to happen, main characters getting slaughtered, plot twists to blow your mind. The reason Im not going on about WOT is the fact that you all know WOT in every detail. Please dont hold this against me i am a true fantasy lover. I have read many many other series, but these 3 stick out in my head anytime someone asks me about a good series to read. My kindle is in the mail as i type this, and i will be able to start reading A Dance with Dragons on friday when it arrives!!! i can not wait!!! too excited for words!!!!! Now for when the last book if WOT comes out, i will be highly disappointed if they do not release to kindle same day, like they did for Towers of Midnight when it came out. I will savoir the last book only allowing myself a handful of pages a day. I do not want it to end *sad face*. For all those people who thought Moiraine was dead, shame on you for thinking Jordan was that stupid..... Too many people thought she was gone, and I knew that could never be the case. I do find it odd that both original girls who heard the Foretelling of the dragon come to life, are now both weak sauce channelers. So now my semi-rant is over i hope i didnt offend to many people^^

See ya,

Waninoko

PS i didnt reread what i typed so please if any grammar/spelling is wrong.... sound it out.

Welcome to Dragonmount.com, Waninoko

We have many different forums and sub-forums where you can discuss practically anything that you want. I encourage you to browse the forums, read and also participate in the countless discussions that are ongoing.

Also, some of the places where WOT fans can have the most fun are in the various Social Groups here, based upon different groups written by Robert Jordan in the Wheel of Time. If you are interested, post what you like best in The Wheel of Time series, and then you can be given suggestions as to which ones of the Social Groups on Dragonmount that you might like.

Dragonmount also has roleplay forums for those whom want to immerse themselves in character into the most fascinating fantasy world ever created, the world of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time.

If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me at any time.

I want to savor the last book but when it comes it would be hard because I want to know how it wil end. I don't want Rand dying. He has alreading gone through too much.

Welcome here and if you have any questions just ask.

I just want to add a rant to this, Kindle Edition book for Towers of Twilight has been out for 8 months now, and is $12.99...... and you can not buy a group set of the past books all are singles from $5.79-$7.99. Where as "A Song of Ice and Fire" is brand new not even out 1 month, and its $9.99, and you can buy all past books for $9.00 also..... and was released same day as hardcover. Let me just say WOT is MONEY GRAB!!!

Hi Waninko, I am also new to this board & I just had to reply when I read that. I can tell you how to get all the ebooks & audiobooks you want right NOW for free, but I haven't read the rules yet & I suspect talking about warez is not allowed here. If you're interested PM me.

that would be an awfully embarrassing thing to get arrested for.

Well it's going on about 11 years I've been doing it, living in 2 different countries (one of them being USA, btw) & I've never gotten so much as a letter politely asking me to stop.

Back in the early days, you used to have to really know what you were doing to properly mask your IP address. Then came programs among The Scene that made it much easier. Now, there's actually a very simple Firefox addon that will give you a new random proxy IP every time you click on a link or type a new URL! It almost takes the fun out of it.

No, nowadays it's only dangerous for the first 5 or 10 torrent seeders of something new, & most of those are just people in The Scene who live in countries beyond the reach of authorities, just getting the things sent to them to distribute because of that fact. Besides, I never use torrents & definitely don't recommend them to others because of the inability to use proxy IPs with them.

I prefer to wait the 15 minutes to an hour it takes for them to get posted to file-sharing sites so Firefox allows me to download them with my location logged as being in Brazil one download, central China the next, somewhere in eastern Europe the third, etc.

In short, the only thing people who want to stop it have going for them these days is the fact most people still believe they CAN get caught. For a final bit of irony, my real-life profession is network administrator for a large casino, one of my duties is making sure no one steals from it!

i live in canada and we only have laws about copying the original or trying to profit off of copies of things you made, so im safe

. . . and the personal accountability thing.

tee hee.

Did you miss the last part where I said I worked for a casino? The entire purpose of the building & pretty much everyone who works in it is to get people drunk & take their money! I guess I'll be one of the Darkfriends in the RP section.

I really like the sound of your username. Waninoko. It just rolls off the tongue. Does it have a meaning? Sounds... Asian.

Anyways, I figured I'd quote you and make some comments, so it won't look so random! (I'm not a very organized person usually so I thought I'd try to work on that lol).

I own all the books in paperback myself. It's more of a space issue and if I want to carry a book with me (which I usually do). It's just easier with papaerback. And of course, it's less expensive. Also all of them are of the American edition with the not so likable drawings lol Seeing as the English edition has a different (and quite stunning!) cover.

And yes, I completely see what you mean about the 'fade to black' sort of fantasy. I am a big fan of more innocent fantasy. I don't mind the sex scenes you have in Song of Ice and Fire, for instance. It still makes for a great fantasy series. But, there is just something that really captures me about focusing more on romance and subtle sexual moments, like RJ and Sanderson do in WoT. It makes all the relationships in the series seem more real to me. Like a world that isn't as sex obsessed as the world we all live in. It just adds to the mystique.

While i was in the book store trying to find another great series to read i found A Song of Ice and Fire. Oh definitely. I wasn't drawn to watch it at first but when I finally watched that first episode... well, I sat and watched all the ten episodes in like one day LOL The only problem is that that with the show being so great and so much money, planning, special effects and whatnot are invested in it... it takes FOREVER for a new season to come out. I don't know, I just find that it's easy for me to wait for new books to come out or for new movies to come out. But with TV shows, I have a lot less patience. I just hope my enthusiasm with the show doesn't fade away by the time the new season actually comes out.

As for WoT, I'd love to see it turned into a movie. I don't think it would work as a series... but I can see it working as a movie *nodnod*

Well, see, that's the thing about Song of Ice and Fire. The way the author just kills of main characters easy. While I'm always the first one to complain in both books and movies that it's SO obvious who the 'untouchable characters' are... aka when you know who's not going to get killed... it gets a little old. But at the same time, the idea of any of the WoT main characters just being killed off after so much build up and getting such an in depth coverage of each of them, it just seems like such a huge waste *laughs* So, I feel pretty good about RJ not being the kind to just kill off his main characters mid-series *nodnodnod*

Totally. I only read new books once they've gone out in Paperback... so I'm just on the 12th one right now. Oh and don't worry, you didn't just reveal a spoiler with the Moiraine mention. I already knew that from a friend lol

Also, if you're looking for another fantasy series and you want to see more of Sanderson's style, you should really get the Mistborn Trilogy. It really is quite good and I think you'll enjoy the sort of 'Magic' system he created there. :)

Oh and if you want to learn about a real WoT rip off... the translation to WoT in Hebrew was done so every book in English is split into two. Aka, in Hebrew you'd have 26 WoT books. I'm not 100% sure if they split all books in two but I know it to be true at least with the first couple of WoT books. Anyways, every book in Hebrew costs as much as a book in English. So you're basically paying the same for half a book ;) lol

Welcome to Dragonmount!

I know that as soon as the last book comes out I'll have it done in a day or two. I tried to take ToM slowly and still got done in three days. I just have to get to the ending. >.<

As for splitting the books, I know they split the first few books in half to make them more friendly to younger readers who were intimidated by long books. They only did the first couple of books though in the US anyway.
