Lanfear, young & old

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I believe Lanfear (in her former body) was the most beautiful woman in the series (Mat thinks something like he forgets to breathe when he sees her, and various other reactions, Egwene, Berelain, Perrin, Rand of course.)

My question is, why is it that she always stuck to the younger version of herself? I believe that appearance of hers was done with the Power, she shows her true self to Rand in the fourth book, older, but more beautiful, ripper, mature etc etc.

Whether in the real world or the Dream world, whether in front of enemies or Forsaken (though come to think of it, they were no friends either,)she always appears the way we know her.

I don't seem to remember any of the Forsaken commenting about her appearance.

Any ideas?

I guess even the forsaken have insecurities, she feels she looks better as a young woman and shows herself as such, which most women probably want to be able to do! Lol!!!

Where does it say that? I always thought that to them, she appeared in her real form. The only time she used the younger "Selene" form was with Rand in The Great Hunt, and for a short time in the Stone at the beginning of The Shadow Rising. I always figured she used that because she wasn't sure if "Lews Therin" would recognize her real form. She took on other disguises that were not very pretty (Silvie in Egwene's dream, Keille in the Waste), so I don't think she suffers from insecurity. If she had appeared to the other Forsaken in a "more youthful" form, they would certainly have commented, especially Graendal. I never saw any comments like that.

My thought was that she wanted to be closer to Rand's age during the initial establishment of a relationship.

Well, you know, there is nothing more enticing in a woman then desperation, obsession and emotional instability. Put together with her killer looks and Lanfear really is the whole package.

Saying that Rand could keep himself composed around her and then even resist her...She must not be cut for our little dragon reborn.
