Hahaha I saw Shayol Ghul at the top just as I clicked post. Damnit! I even did that thing where you try to will something not to happen, you know, where you close your eyes and ball your fists and go all tense, but it didnt work.

But WHY would you even BE here when you want to start a topic at the ACW?

The ACW is five or six Orgs higher.

A couple features of real world toponymy that Tolkien included in The Lord of the Rings

-Untranslatable toponyms

-Suffixes from older languages

-Redundant toponyms (Such as River Avon in real life or Bree-Hill and Chetwood in the Lord of the Rings)

-Folk Etymologies

If you want more explanation, I can continue. I would respond to the ACW thread but I'm not allowed to :P

More explanation would be awesome! Is it by any chance possible that I could read that paper you did? Cool stuff indeed, I want to reference some real world stuff in my books so something along those lines would be swaheeeet

It's shortish and not completely on toponyms but yeah sure, PM me your email and I'll send it to you. I also have the readings that we did that week in class that I had to base my paper on.
