the tower is a bit mad and difficult to navigate.

I never had any problems navigating here.

you are a special case. but it can be confusing and a bit overwhelming, especially at first. i couldn't figure anythign out for some time, and even now there are half hidden dark hallways in the tower that surprise me.

 

it's like hogwarts with the shifting staircases.

It is not. This is just the Taint that lets chambers appear and disappear and move. Just use enough of the Taint, and you are not surprised by it.
