Before starting, there's a useful guide for Dore Saidin written by Al Jenn if you want to check it out. It explains pretty much everything. I linked to that in the sign up:

Walkthrough 1

Less In-Depth Walkthrough

To do a Dore Saidin battle, you use your stats and rank in the Dore Saidin Rollers. This is how it works:

Go to the Dore Saidin Rollers page. Normally, you'd fill out out your stats and rank, however, for training purposes, we'll just use stats of 10 and the Asha'man(or Aes Sedai if you want) rank. So fill out your name, rank (Asha'man/Aes Sedai), and Fire, Earth, Air, Water, and Spirit stats (10 for all). Then do the same in the bottom section for your opponent. ( i.e.Talmanes; Asha'man; 10,10,10,10,10) (The TP thing means True Power which is something for the Shadow only, so we'll ignore that for now). Note, you don't actually have to fill out all the stats; you can simply fill out the stats for whatever elements the weave you're doing requires.

Next, select the weave you're using. There are one weave attacks, two weave, three weave, four weave, and five weave. After each weave are letters and numbers in parentheses. The letter stand for the element (F-Fire, E-Earth etc.) and the number for the stat level required to perform the weave. So if you had level 2 Earth and level 3 Air, you could perform Tornado (E2,A2) but not Earthquake (E3,A3) Typically, the more elements and the higher level elements required, the greater potential damage of the weave, but also the greater risk.

So select a one element weave (after filling out all the slots) and attack. A screen will pop up with some information (you can read this; it tells you how to interpret how much damage you did, but I'll explain it here anyway) and a table that will look something like this: (I filled out the entire sheet so that's why they all have numbers).

To figure out how damage you did, look at the rows of the elements you attacked with. (In my case, just Fire since I attacked with a Fire-only weave. If you only fill out the stats you're using, the rest will just be zeroes in the chart) Each element row has five columns. The column you look at depends on how many elements you used in your weave. If you used one element, you look at the first column. Two elements, second. Three, third. And so on. The amount of damage you did, is the SMALLEST number in that column. (out of the elements you're using). If a number is negative, then it's the same as zero. Since I did a one element Fire attack, I look at the first Fire column. There is a 0 there. That is how much damage I did. So I format my post like this:

Attack: Fire

Damage: 0

(You): 100

(Your Opponent): 100

Each party starts out with 100 HP.

Now you go ahead and attack me. For the first couple, copy the numbers for your weave here, so I can easily verify if you are doing it right. (You can just type them in, I just did a screenshot for a better visual.)

Ok - so I chose to do a fire ball, which needed Fire2 and Air2. I put 10s in both of our boxes for those elements and pressed attack. Because I used a two element attack I look at the numbers in the second column. Fire is a 6, air is a 4. I have to choose the lower number so the damage I have caused is 4.

Does that sound right?

Yup that sounds right. So you would format your post like this:

Attack: Fireball

Damage: 4

Ithi: 100

Talmanes: 96

You skipped the one element weave, but that's alright, we can just move on to 3. Make sure you're filling in all the elements you need, and using Asha'man or Aes Sedai for you and Asha'man for me.

Okay so for the three weave, same thing, fill in the ones you need, but this time look in the third column for the lowest number. I used Deathgates, so:

Attack: Deathgates

Damage: 0

Talmanes: 96

Ithi: 100

Yeah when we are using identical stats it is harder to do lots of damage. It'll vary a bit in the Tourny which will make it more interesting.

So I think you've pretty much got the hang of it, but let's do another attack for the heck of it.

Attack: Lightning Storm

Damage: 0

Talmanes: 96

Ithilian: 100

Do you have any questions by the way?

It's all good thanks Tal. I probably will need a bit of help with setting variances maybe in the real Tourney - but I will let you know if I get stuck.

Attack: Fireball

Damage: 0

Talmanes: 96

Ithilian: 100

an awful lot of zero damage indeed.

Alrighty, that will conclude this practice match then. You won, so that means you get 8 points if you join ;)
