Today is Roots Day! Since we're focusing a lot on our families, lately, let's talk about where we come from! Have you researched your family tree? Have you uncovered any interesting stories?

I learned that my great-great grandfather was a funny little guy. He was a fresh off the boat Irishman who got a quick job working the docks in Charleston. His brother was working with him. One day while they were unloading a ship, a carriage pulled up and a woman was handed out of it. When she stepped out, she lifted her skirts so she could clear the step and he saw her ankle (she was a bit of a rebel...wasn't wearing stockings!). He declared then and there he had to marry her because he saw her ankle and set about wooing her. He was apparently successful, since she's now in my family tree! LOL

And that's pretty much all I know :P
