in one of the live versions (and it was all i could do to stop myself from posting another dozen, cause... mmmmmm bob), he intros it saying,

 

"this is for leonard, if he's still here."

 

it's one of the more famous versions, i think it may be on an official album.

 

he also intros it with, "this is a song about marriage," which is...

 

well, that's one of the things it's about i guess.

The arrangement you posted is fantastic. Bob at his musical best, I think.

 

Maybe he just liked the song and wanted to dedicate a good song to Leonard. Or maybe it was about something that happened when he was writing the song? I have no idea, but I'll be listening to it now. I love these kind of songs, I have no idea what they are really about, but feel the truth and beauty in them.
