Quilling is really easy and pretty cheap, too, if you're in the mood to try a new crafty project. Here's a kit to make snowflakes (though if you have the paper, glue and the slotted tool, you can go wild with it without having to buy the kit!)

you can use shaved ice but it's more fun with snow

shaved ice candy doesn't sound as much fun, ya know? *grins*

 

I have a recipe for potato candy that's a lot of fun, though...

i think i've seen it - the one that looks like potatoes? or you mean one made from potatoes?

 

could see it working actually.

it's made from small red potatoes. You puree them and mix in a TON of powdered sugar. You roll it out like cookie dough and spread peanut butter over it, then freeze it. Before you serve it, you cut slices so you see the pinwheel and poof! Potato candy!

sounds really good. the potatoes should work just like flour i'd guess.

pretty much, once they've thickened up with the sugar and hardened in the fridge. It takes about a box and a half of confectioner's sugar to about 4 potatoes, though...

sounds like making gnocchi.
