In ‘The Eye of the World’ there suggestions that Perrin has been affected by his connection with the wolves because he doesn’t perspire when in the blight. But this seems to have been forgotten after this.

It wouldn't be the only thing.

Although RJ never admitted it, he tried out several thing in the first book that simply vanished and were never heard from again, best to not worry about it, just standard "it just didn't work out the way I expected" things.
