I've only glanced at this site over the years to get news about release dates, I had no idea there was a community attached. I found out tonight, and joined.

I started the series back in 1990, and have read and reread it as one of my favorite pastimes over the years. I must have read the earlier books 20 times by now, ToM only 4 or 5. I've always been a huge fan of science fiction/fantasy novels, and have been happy to read anything as long as the story was entertaining. RJ goes way beyond simple entertainment. The WoT series still blows me away. The quality/depth of the writing and story are like nothing else I've ever encountered. I still glean something new with each rereading.

I came to DM tonight to look for release information, and had a mini rage moment when I saw the date. In my despair I started clicking stuff, wondering how I'd pass my reading time during the next 10 months. I was SO hoping to see it right around the corner. I just reread the series over last 3 months, wishing for the last book to be ready close to my finish. While I'll be sad when it's done, it's been a LONG road these 20 years. I guess I'll have to read something else for 6 months or so, and start the series over again. I want to read the final book while I'm 'in the groove'.

Anyway, hello. Nice to see those of us who love this great work of literature have a place to gather.

Hello Diels-Alder,

I also found DM whilst trying to find out the release date of aMoL. I have been reading the books for a very very long time, and approached each new one with the idea that this one would definitely be the last. How foolish of me lol. Of course now we are actually approaching the final book, despite the most major set back ever in the loss our our dear Mr Jordan, but the strength of his stories and the world he had created allowed it to persevere. That's an amazing thing really when you consider it.

Anyway, that was in April last year and I haven't really gone away since. I found the forums pretty quickly and started off with a couple of posts in the general discussion boards. Then ... I found the Social Groups. Here was a little world where everyone had read the books and didn't think you were a freak for reading fantasy and sci-fi. There are several groups and each of them have a different angle or perspective and are based on their comparative groups from the books - but not in a fixed and absolute manner.

Do you think you will continue to engage with the community? Which groups would draw you interest do you think - if they were as the groups in the books are? I am a member of two groups so might be able to answer any questions you have about them. And if I can't I can probably prod someone else till he comes and answers them lol.

Welcome to DM!

I had kept reloading the page hoping that it was displaying wrong date. First it is said that aMoL would be released in March 2012, then Autumn 2012 and now January 8 2013. This is a torture on us. Especially leaving at The Last Battle in ToM. What can we do but wait?

Anyway, who is your favourite character? Your favourite scene?

If you have any questions, just ask!

Welcome Diels-Alder! That's quite an impressive amount of reads you've done on the series, you have me beat by a good bit. I am also a hardcore fantasy freak, and I can't wait till the last book comes out! There's definitely a large number of things to do in the forums, including joining both WoT and non-WoT themed discussions on discussion boards, and Social Groups that you can converse with other fans in a more relaxed and friendly manner, and even RP boards if you like to occasionally role play.

Do you have any thoughts about the series and how things might wrap up? I bet you have a very interesting perspective after having read the series so many times  Any interesting theories by chance? I happen to run the theory blog which runs on the front page, I'd love to steal some of your ideas and pass them off as my own! Jking lol

Welcome to DM, Diels-Alder - it's great to see someone who started reading the books as far back as I did, and re-read them as many times

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I only belong to the White Tower (both Social and Role Playing sides) now but I've been around since 2006 so I know my way around.
