If you doing the first read I would not recommend you skipping any chapters..but for rereads why not. A lot of Elayne,Egwene and Perrin are just painful.

5 and 6 are 2 of my favourites, as people have mentioned 7- 10 drag a little bit but after that it gets epic again. Having said that there are some golden moments in books 7 and 9 especially.

 

Also the ending to book 6 is worth any and all effort to reach it, probably the most epic moment in the series!
