I know, why do I want to measure conversions from yards to miles instead of just adding and taking away zeroes, so much easier. England uses the metric system now and they created the other one.

use what you like. I can measure American measures with my hands and my eyes. I'm not learning any more math. you go ahead with your bad self.

like we need to dumb things down more here. lol...

Why can't the US just convert to metric?

because we don't want to. why should we suddenly adopt some arbitrary system? just because everyone else is doing it?

no thanks. they tried to make us do that in grade school. and we all said no. didn't even have to consult one another.

y'all can use what measurements you like but a pints still a pound the world around.

you call SI units arbitrary?

yes, I call the metric system arbitrary though not capricious.

did I mention, I don't wanna?

and it's ok if you do, carry on with it if it pleases you.

it doesn't bother me how you measure, it shouldn't bother you how I do, buts it's nobody's business if it does.. and that's a very obscure book reference, five points to anyone who gets it and... whatever points I owe anyone who reminds me I owe the. points. I know I do but I forgot...

I hate it when people are taller than i am. Doesn't happen often, but is annoying when it does.

How tall are you?

6'2" and counting.

Care to throw a few inches my way? Only need 3 for 6'

I'll say this: I think the standard vs. metric issue is pretty pointless on many levels, since we're not changing anytime soon and the rest of the world prob won't either, but we should adopt Celsius. Just makes more sense. And month/day/year makes sense because Americans aren't as hung up on what day it is; as long as we got a good handle on what month it is we're doing okay

Still trying to learn how to write dates. Should it be July 2, 2nd of July, 2 July? I have gotten it explained to me many times but I forget it.

it's very confusing when doctors do it that way in medical records, and can cause serious errors. if you're writing official documents in any particular place you should use the standard for that place... though I don't think most of you are doctors so... nvm..

Very good point Cindy. The amount of serious mistakes that happen in the medical world in America is astonishing btw

IT'S SOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOT TODAY!

it's way too darn hot... we got the broccoli just in time but the book choi was half bolted and the lettuce is getting leggy... on the bright side, the peppers are delighted.

Too bad global warming is a myth and everything

I'm not buying it cause I'm old enough to remember all kinds of weather.

and if it's not a myth, I can do without polar bears and so can the seals. the regular brown grizzlies are predator enough for me.

well, not sure if it is a myth, but the world as a whole goes through cold phases (like the Ice Age) and warm phases (which we are beginning) it may just be the Earth, but we are still contributing to it.
