Personally, I think Merle must have climbed down a fire escape or something similar.

You know that does make sense

At the time the group was up there the fire escape wouldn't be an option because of all the zombies surrounding the building anyway but later it could have been a way for Merle to get down

Mystery solved!

Lori taking out her anger on Shane is totally unfair, but part of it is I wonder if she wasn't totally happy to see Rick alive? Like maybe Shane and Lori were having an affair before he got shot?

IIRC Shane said he never even thought twice about Lori before the outbreak when him and Rick talked about it

I completely blame Lori for Shane's break down. Her constantly jerking him around screwed him up. If not for her I think that Shane and Rick would have worked their differences out. Which is why I wish instead of Dale dying they killed her.

I don't blame her completely

Like when Shane looses it and tries to rape her

That may have been temporary insanity but it wasn't brought on by Lori

I don't think I've hated any fictional character more than I hate her.

Ok episode 4

I remember not liking this episode so we'll see how this goes...

Yeah ok this scene with the girls at the beginning

BOOOORING

I know why it's there

They had to establish more emotion and connection between the two before Amy dies and they had to do it quick

But man couldn't they have been walking through the forest or something?

Oh so they showed where Merle got down and left

I didn't remember this

Ok so I don't get why they got all concerned with the guy digging the holes

It's cool to check in on him and make sure he's ok but as they saw he was fine

He just wanted to do something and feel useful

I mean Ed might be ok with sitting around and watching other people do work but this guy isn't

Granted he's not actually doing anything useful but he's doing SOMETHING and that's all he wanted

Wow I had almost nothing to say about this episode

Ok so big zombie battle at the end ummm

Amy isn't even trying to get away

She's just standing there screaming

She could at least struggle geez

So yeah I was wondering where all these people went

I guess a lot of them did die

More than I remembered dying anyway

And that's it for todays episode

Yeah except for that finale it was pretty meh

Episode 4 had a lot of "establish the emotions", true. Very emotional when Amy died. But yeah, pretty meh on this one.

Episode 5, pretty good, few things I didn't like much. The Mexicans, in real life, I doubt would be taking care of these old people. Daryl here starts to be a favorite of mine.

The scene where Andrea shoots Amy-walker is well done, tho I think she cut it way too close.

I really don't like Dale, that hasn't changed.

TS-19 will be watched on Monday.

The Mexicans, in real life, I doubt would be taking care of these old people. Daryl here starts to be a favorite of mine.

Actually Hispanic culture in general lends credence to that. They have a lot more respect and devotion to the elderly than a lot of cultures. And seeing as how two of them were already employees there, I find it completely believable.

Yeah I found it believable as well

Time for episode 5

Man the season is quick if you watch one a day

Nice opening with Rick

I'm glad they did that but I would have liked it more if Morgan had joined the group

Oh well

Where did Daryl get that pickax? Who in the group would have had that? Dale? Whaaa??

I really like that Glenn wants to bury people in their group who die

It feels like something a real person would want to do in a situation like that

"I say we put a pickax in his head and the dead girls and be done with it"

"That what you'd want if it was you?"

"Yeah and I'd thank you while you did it"

Interested to see how Daryl would actually react if he was bit now

Maybe in season 3?

This debate kind of shows you how the groups changed in season 2

Jim and Amy are both threats to the group right now but Rick isn't willing to do anything about it

In fact he pulls a gun and says "We don't kill the living" when Daryl runs up like he's going to kill Jim

Season 2 definitely got stale in the first half but season to season there's a lot of changes and progression which is nice

I like the scene out in the forest with Rick and Shane

It really shows IMO how even when they are arguing they can talk things out

It's when other people are around and in the way that things get really heated

I don't blame Shane at all for being upset with Rick when he says if it was his family he'd feel different

Rick says he's just taking it wrong but I don't know how else you can take that

Now Shane pointing the gun at Rick isn't that big of a deal

First of all it's a shotgun and at that distance it probably wouldn't kill Rick so at that point you know it's just a fantasy

As people we can have ugly thoughts about rape, murder, thieving and other such things but ultimately we can also decide not to do these things and remain civilized

Shane is being a little selfish because he thinks if Rick is out of the way he can have Lori and Carl back but you know he's also concerned about the group

Two birds with one stone right? But not really because you know even if he killed Rick things wouldn't go back to being the same between him and Lori

Shane knows that too and the moment passes, just a fantasy

He puts the gun down

Dale is just there suddenly (lol why is he there?) and sees what goes down and he holds that against Shane for the rest of his life but for some reason he never considers that Shane put that gun down

Credit needs to go where credit is due that's all I'm trying to say

I really like how they did the thing here with the CDC

I like that there is basically an AI and it's just one random guy trying to figure it all out

The end of episode 5 is pretty much the only reason I kept watching because I'd gotten bored with the show during episode 4 and most of episode 5

Episode 6 Hoooooo!

Ok so the opening addresses a huge part of the show which is that people hate Shane

This episode attempts to humanize him a bit and show what he went through and how his intentions were generally good

That's all fine and for the most part I don't blame Shane for how he acts because most of the things he does are in a grey area at worst

That said there are some pretty clear lines you have to draw even with someone under a lot of pressure

I think a big part of what happened here was Lori refusing to listen and constantly blaming Shane

This doesn't excuse the fact that he tried to rape her but he wasn't just cut off from being with Lori he was actively shunned and that's a nice way to put it

Any time she talked with him she treated him like dirt WITHOUT hearing him out

Again not an excuse but I think it's overlooked that both people are at fault here

It's interesting how the only place you ever really want to be in a zombie apocalypse is behind doors and locks and somewhere they can't get in

But then you don't really consider at the time that you also can't get out, why would you want to right? Well a bomb is a pretty good reason

Love how they played that out

The safest place we've ever seen on the show is actually just a deathtrap

Haha I love how Rick just drops the grenade and stands there for a few seconds and then realizes he needs to RUN

Here we are at the end of season 1

It was good

Then it was boring

Then it was tense

Then it was good again

All in all not a bad first season

Hey guys I just heard that season 2 is now on netflix!

As of yesterday.

S2E1

Opens with a monologue from Rick talking on the walkie talkie

It gives us a nice little recap but I wish we would have heard just a blip from Morgan

An indication that he's still alive even though we know we aren't going to meet up with him

"This is a graveyard. I don't know how I feel about this."

Well gee Lori why don't you figure that out and in the meantime everyone else will work on getting supplies and fixing the RV

Really Dale? You couldn't see this big group of walkers coming five minutes earlier?

This group sucks

Wow Lori

You're going to shush her when her daughter is in danger like that?

If that was Carl...ah who am I kidding? It's not like you'd even know where Carl was in the first place

Oh boy and here we go with the contradictions

So Shane is supposed to stay away from your family but he's not supposed to blow off Carl?

You're gonna make this a loooong season Lori

Well there's a nice plan

Shane leaves with Andrea

Why Lori would want to keep him around is beyond me

I forgot how damn annoying the first half of this season is

Episode 6: Good season finale, thought it sucked that the black chick commit suicide. I liked Jenner's character, too bad he opted out too. The attempted rape scene was well done, drunk or not, inexcusable.

Shane's still my favorite character tho, and Daryl.

Season 2, episode 1: Good opening scene, nice recap. I hate Lori more and more for her stupidity. I saw so much awesome stuff to scavenge in that "graveyard", seriously. Hey Lori, you want to respect the dead or join them?

Big herd of walkers, little girl goes missing. Carol is hysterical and blames Rick. Dale lies to stall them leaving.

Shane says he's leaving, Andrea wants to go with him. These 2 should become a couple at this point, that would have been a better plot turn I think. She's sexy, he's hot, why not?

I had missed this episode, and 2 and 3 the first time around, so first time I had seen this.

Best scene: gutting the dead walker. Guh-ross!

I'm gonna skip recapping episode 2

It wasn't the worst episode ever the first time seeing it but the second time around it's actually really boring

All I'd end up talking about is Shane again and how they had the perfect opportunity to kill T Dog and didn't

Carl getting shot is pretty important tho. And Daryl's character continues to develop.

Episode 3, Shane shooting Otis in the leg so he can get away pretty much takes center stage this episode. I get why he did it, and I can't say I blame him, but it really shows you his mindset right now. And then Lori saying "Stay." Yeah, he just saved Carl's life, but telling him to stay could potentially make so many problems....

Carl getting shot isn't really that important IMO

It was just a mechanism to introduce the new cast members while giving the group even more of a reason to stick around for awhile

And yeah I'll give you Daryl but it can be summed up by saying "Daryl starts to show that he isn't really such an asshole afterall"

There isn't much to say about it

We've been led to believe that he's very similar to his brother but every now an then we get hints that he does actually care about the people he's with

But if Carl hadn't gotten shot, Shane wouldn't have stuck around as long as he does.

If Carl doesn't get shot I don't think Rick would eventually kill Shane. Carl and Lori were Shane's big reasoning for wanting to kill Rick, saying that he didn't think that Rick could protect them. So Carl getting shot was pretty significant.

I fell behind on my rewatch and I don't think I'm gonna be able to continue it

Might marathon the rest of the eps when season 3 starts though

Up to where they kill all the walkers in the barn, and are in the bar with Herschel. Stupid old fool he is.

Yeah Herschel was a bit naive, but I like him over all. Morgan was the same way if you think about it. It took him a while before he was able to kill his wife.
