Travel Recommendations

A post by Turin in the Sept Sign-In thread inspired me: In the BT (and indeed, in DM in general) are a great variety of ages, with different cultures, form a wide range of places. So...

Considering where you've been, where you live, etc, what would you recommend if someone visited a certain place? Things to avoid? Things not to miss? Phrases you MUST know, etc.

After all, no one wants to end up in this situation...

I'll start. When visiting Vegas, as I did within the last 2 years, you MUST get off the strip for at least one day, and see Freemont street. (The old Vegas Strip) It's amazing, and has some awesome LCD overhead light shows.

In Portland, OR, be sure to visit Saturday Market on the waterfront. It's a center for a variety of amazing foods, local crafts, a great source of people-watching, and you could spend all day there without getting bored.

Don't go to Ireland. I hate tourists. Go bother English. That's all for now .

LOL... well, if I do ever end up in Ireland, i'll tread lightly and far from the Wild Taltos :)

If anyone comes to Seattle, just make sure you visit Alki Beach, it's gorgeous. There's a day hike to Mt. Pilchuck, north of Seattle, that allows you to see (on a clear day) from Vancouver, BC Canada to south of Mt. Rainier (South of Seattle, for about a 250 mile span) that's simply amazing also.
