Grinning widely, Rosheen stepped onto the branch over the stream. It was a fairly wide stream, and a fairly wide branch, and it was just perfect for what she had in mind. She gave Cairma a wave. “Come on, this is perfect.†As perfect as a balance spar could get, actually. Both of them had lathes ready, and with Aran to as their referee little could go wrong. Well, truth be told a lot could go wrong, but without taking the risks, none of them would ever improve their skills.

Rosheen walked back and forth on the branch, getting a feel for it’s flaws and weak areas. Worst case scenario was definitely having the branch break and them both falling into the stream. Best case scenario would be that she bested Cairma after a good spar. She hoped it would be a good spar at least. Rosheen found her centre of balance, and got into a basic guard stance, waiting for Cairma to get ready.

“Well, get a move on already!†she said, laughing the entire time. A weight had fallen off her shoulders now that she was on her ‘vacation’ in the Braem wood. She was going to enjoy this spar a lot, she could tell already. Aran seemed to think the same, if the grin on his face meant anything.

Turning her head in the direction of Rosheens voice, Cairma smiled at the new 'training yard' that had been set up. Both Rosheen and Cairma followed a Balance discipline and practicing together since they were both at different levels of abilities was enough to convince her to pick up her lathe with enthusiasm and a grin. She followed Rosheen to the stream, allowing her to find her Balance first. It would be easier for the master find balance before a disciple.

She watched Aran with a weary eye, however, as he took his expceted position of referee (more like spectator) not far off from splash reach. "Well, get a move on already!†Rosheen said, laughing the entire time. Grinning Cairma took a step onto the branch, still watching Aran as she easily found her balance as easily as she always had. Climbing trees as a younger child had been surprisingly useful in not only her basic training, but also when running the Gauntlet before it had been shut down.

Looking up she grinned at the much taller woman, taking a slightly modified stance of Lion on the Hill. Allowing her mind flow like the stream, a river of emotional balance flowed behind Cairma's eyes as opposed to her usual cold Void."Take your best shot, Rosheen.." She grinned. "I'm ready when you are."

Of course, lazing about wasn't good enough for the other two. Oh no, they were too good for simply lying back and relaxing, they had to go and bash each other with sticks. Well, lathes, but they were wood and for all intents and purposes were sticks with the only difference being that they had handles on them as far as Aran was concerned. They couldn't do it simply either, oh no, they had to have their duel on a log that crossed a sizeable stream because that was much more picturesque. There was something about balance involved but Aran was fairly certain it was all about the novelty.

Aran also had no intention of taking part either. Of course, watching the pair of them smack each other and at least one of them get a dunking appealed to him so he had allowed himself to be roped in as a referee. That and while the girls had been busy strutting about, swinging their lathes and doing what it was that serious fighters did, Aran had retrieved some moss from the edge of the stream and rolled it into a hefty ball. Sitting it behind his back, he planned on sending whoever won into the water right after their opponent fell. Then he planned on disappearing for at least an hour afterward so he wouldn't be dragged in by them. Or maybe he'd be too busy laughing at them, he'd figure it out when he got to it.

Now both of them were posing, Cairma was adopting the Lion on the Hill as she seemed happy to wait out Rosheen to force the other woman to approach. A response no doubt to Rosheen's guard stance to challenge the woman to come forward rather than do so herself. Both of them seemed to be mulling over whether to retain their position or be the one to move forward first. As far as Aran was concerned, the entertainment needed to begin soon or he was going to knock someone off himself. "Hey are you women guards or wenches?! Someone take a swing already!"

Rosheen ignored Aran for the time being. She’d get to it when she was ready, not when he was bored. If she had to act whenever he got bored, she’d never have a peaceful moment again. She smirked at Cairma, offering the woman an easy feint. She didn’t fall for it, but that wasn’t the point. Rosheen was determined to find out just how sure Cairma’s footing was before getting into it. Sure, Rosheen might be the more skilled warrior, but you had to take all things into consideration before leaping into things. That was balance too. Speed people always acted before thinking, and strength people always assumed they could outlast or overpower people. Rosheen preferred to make sure that her moves were accurate before actually striking.

Another feint and another dodge later, Rosheen felt confident enough to start. “On with the show.†She muttered. First things first though. Within moments she had formed the focal point of her emotions, immersing herself in them moments after. Focussed as much as she could, she could hear Cairma breathing a few feet away. She was sure that if she tried, she could hear Aran’s breathing too. Not that she cared about him though. She was focussed on Cairma, and Cairma alone. Her opponent was going down, and it was going to happen right now.

Rosheen leapt forward, letting the Courtier taps his fan search for Cairma’s head. Easily blocked as it might be, Rosheen’s attack didn’t relent just yet. Parting the silk met with Kingfisher takes a silverback.. She continued with Cat dances on the wall Forcing Cairma back. That was the fun thing about fighting on a branch. There was no way to sidestep an attack. Move backwards, or move forward, or get caught standing still. And every single discipline agreed that standing still was the best way to get yourself killed.
