Why Do I Keep Doing This To Myself (A paranoid guy who seems to hate most things reading WOT REALLY slowly)

Featured Replies

But consider. The surprises you speak of, I wouldn't like most of them. I don't like heroes being awesome. I TOLERATE it. And what reason do I have to continue reading if not to get to something I might like.

I'm paranoid and scared that I'm not going to like anything. And whenever I do mention something that I like (like Mogheiden getting inside Nynaeve's head) you seem to snuff it out.

Dude RJ is strange, its known that he hates killing his characters, so naturally the good guys are awesome(but not unrealistically)

Yeah I think the same way, lolguy. He thinks he is unbeatable so he doesn't really care about being imprisoned again. He only cares about Ishamael and keeps him alive through all the ages (if we can believe what he said), because true supporters are almost non-existent.

Again, I don't mind the heroes being awesome. I just rarely enjoy it. Ever. My enjoyment always comes from the challenges they face and the people who stand in their way. The Antagonists. The fact that they win is just something I put up with out of necessity (I hate it when bad guys win). It's fine as long as their oobstacles are impressive

Oh, someone called him an incompetent hack. He's like one of my favourite characters.

... odd that the Forsaken keep calling him insane. He was the only one making sense in the first 3 books from where I was standing.

Dude you'll notice that all the heroes have a bit of their innocence lost with every battle, and soon as you'll soon find out is what the DO means by "let the lord of chaos rule".

I don't think he cares about anyone (even ishameal) but cuz ishameal knows what the DO's goal is,the DO likes him (in this age, you don't know about the next)

I always liked Ishy and Rand through all the books. They actually came dangerously close to becoming friends at some points, or that's at least the way I saw it. They understood each other at least. I won't be surprised if they had a good chat in the last book before they battled it out.

He is, was, cuz he was a philosopher have you ever heard of a sane one??

Wait, is this the "Tiki Mikk from D Gray Man" version of almost becoming friends? Where they act friendly despite Ishy still obviously being a villain?

Oh, and if RJ hates killing off characters, then what of poor Rahvin and Be'lal? :(

I'm not a fan of D Gray Man, so I'm not familiar with the characters. But yes to that friendly part despite Ishy being the villain, but that comes later in the books (where Rand is being evil and all that).

i meant the main one's.

dude in the end imo WoT is actually a lot more realistic than most of the fantasy series available

The DO is actually really stupid..

(spoiler for EmerorAllspice)

I'm paraphrasing Verin here: "Even after 40 years of studying, I'm still not sure what the Dark One's true intentions are"

And neither are we.
