Tuon changed Egeanin's name to Lielwin Shipless. While in Tanchico, Grelb brought her a Taraboner noblewoman named Lady Lielwin. She was sent back to Seanchan.

One of my favorites is kind of an opposite of this. Instead of a bit character that shows up and makes you go, "Oh, I remember him" The Dragon Reborn has a mention that is almost impossible to catch without a reread.

 

The High Lord Darlin, eventual King of Tear, is the High Lord that Mat is shown having a duel with when he breaks into the Stone. He's completely absent from all the posturing in the Stone at the beginning of The Shadow Rising, and we don't learn a thing about him, or even hear his name mentioned again, until Lord of Chaos.

yeah, Mat calls him a 'ragamuffin'. One of the funniest things from my first reread.
