...don't worry my spelling&grammar is usually good when I want it to be :P

So - Hiya BotRH peoples! I'm Nya, and have been doing a bit of RPing over at the WT group since like...a year or so :P
I did not see a sign-up thread, so I'm just swaggering in here like golly whatnot

I've been thinking/am writing up a potential Bander's bio, buuut have a few questions first :)

Firstly, can I base my character on a book char? - not so well known, but I want to call her the same name, give her the same appearance, personality etc cos I love the character to bits :P just checking!

Can she be from a minor noble house, or does the Band despise nobles? :P

Is is possible to RP across two groups such as maybe have her become a WT novice sometime later?

Do you guys RP in retro?

And there was another question I just forgot *cross*

Anyway, thanks! And I hope to be able to start RPing here soon :D

Hiya Nya!! You'd better join up and tackle my character.

I'm pretty sure you can go cross-group.

I'll let Quibby answer the majority of those questions, I'll just guess and give you misinformation, which isn't helpful.   *nodnod*

Hey, glad to see you're interested in our little slice of chaos, disorder, and rampant destruction!

Basing a character off of a book character has been done before, but it tends to be a gray area.  If it is a character from WoT, then I'm going to say 'no'; RJ was pretty clear in his opinion of fanfic, and the RP only exists because we don't actually use any of his characters (except the Forsaken).

Noble houses are just fine; there are nobles in the Band.  Acting too noble is a good way to get on your superior officers' bad side, though.  Might be something fun to do, so keep it in mind.

If she becomes a WT novice, then there are some things you should keep in mind.  First off, the Band does not RP very far in retro.  We're currently in a retro RP, but it is only a year behind main storyline.  Basically, don't expect your character to become Aes Sedai before the Last Battle if you choose to do that.  If that is not a problem, then the other limitation is WS.  I don't remember what the exact number is, but I believe that after WS 10, your character will not be accepted at the Tower.  The rule exists to eliminate god-modding.

I hope that's helpful, and feel free to ask more questions.

Haha hai BB! XD

I've been wanting to do a Band char for a while

Hi Quibby! Thanks :D

Nope I respect RJ's attitude to fanfiction, and she's from a Tad Williams series <3 (and I just basically want the name and appearance anyway)

Coolio - I just want her to be pretty naive and a little snooty maybe, that would be fun to RP her learning lessons. :P

Okay.. this is a real n00b question, but where can I find a thread where it says exactly where in the timeline we are now, non-retro? ^^I'm guessing it's close to the last battle!?

Yeah I'm not planning on her to become powerful or super-skilled or somehthing. Just have a lot of adventures *nodnod* :D

Btw, how old can my character be? If I want to have her become a novice in a few years...but don't want her to be unbelievably young. Meh. 18 at the youngest?
