So my question is exactly what the thread is called. I've been reading the fifth book and I'm a little lost about where Samara is exactly. Which nation is it in? And where is it relative to Amador or Jehannah?

Samara is a town in Ghealdan. It is situated on the River Eldar.

It was here that Nynaeve al'Meara was brought to meet Masema Dagar, the Prophet of the Dragon.^[1]

Shortly after this meeting, she met Galad Damodred and other Children of the Light.^[2] A conflict between the two forces of the Dragonsworn and Children of the Light takes place in Samara, and after it, only ruins are left.^[3]

well there was a fair bit of fires and refugees leaving. So I highly doubt there is much left there
