We're doing a composition unit for classroom music at school and I want to write a song, nice and simple, piano and voice, but I have absolutely zero inspiration for what to write it about.  :/

 

Any ideas?

I'm bad with lyrics and usually choose a public domain poem for the text of my pieces.

The music that JotS songs are set to is an old Irish Drinking song called Garry Owen. It's been used for decades as the Regimental Theme for the U.S. 7th Cavalry.
