We went to the Royal Armouries in Leeds yesterday. It was quite busy because is was a Bank Holiday Monday - but we still had a great time.

I recommend it if you are ever in Leeds.

There is a gallery of swords and other sharp and dangerous things that is 5 stories high.

You can walk up the stairs all around this gallery if you are feeling adventurous. We took the lift.

There's an awful lot of knights and armour stuff on show. It was hard to take pictures and my two young monkeys were prone to escaping. This did catch my eye though.

A battle where knights on armour face men with guns? That's just mental. I really need to look this battle up and see who won.

And here is his more Kingly sword Anduril, forged from the shards of Narsil I think. I'm just trying to get confirmation from my resident LotR expert.

There are a whole section on oriental weapons and stuff ... But we didn't get chance to look really.

I am also not very good with a Gatling Machine Gun. I only got a score of 68 :(

I didn't even get to play with the crossbows. The queue was too long

The first time I went there was a police handgun training thingy and that was cool. Shoot the bad guys and not the good guys simulation. They should bring that back.

There was some jousting too - but you had to pay to see that.

I´m not really interested in weapons but I would love to see an oliphant. lol

Well, swords and crossbows can be fun to try out.

Ohhh ::drools, look at all the awesome things....  LUCKY!!!! Don;t think there's anything remotely like that anywhere here in the states, at least not near where I live.

A thousand years of history and sharp pointy dangerous things.

If you are ever over here you should definitely check it out.

You can definitely come Talya :) as long as you don't mind two small monkeys running around and asking you to play lego.
