Sayings

Featured Replies

I have and I'm sure others have used sayings from the books to people who haven't read them...

A couple of times i've mused to myself 'The wheel weaves as the wheel wills' and people have overheard xD

Or told my mate "Work with what you had not what you wish you could have" <-- one of Lini's I believe.

I FREQUENTLY use "Bloody and bloody ashes" and "Light" haha xD

Any others people have used/can come up with?

At the same time, mainy of the sayings are similar to and dirived from, if not taken verbatim from our world. Most notably, your blood and bloody ashes being reminiscent of the mild British profanity bloody hell.

Examples:

Lan uses something similar too:

okay, so that wasn't a real saying.

but my favourite has already been mentioned, death is light than a feather, duty heavier than a mountain.

haha I say "Light!" all the time in replacement of "God!" I'm waiting for another one to creep up into my vocabulary any time now =]

I think that one is pretty obvious...I've read it in at least half a dozen different books (of different series), not to mention movies and whatnot.

I use "Sleep well and wake" from the Aiel. It has a nice ring to it :)

One that I like is. "Sure as peaches are poison"

I wonder if Aganor(sp) made peaches bad while he was working on the Thrallocs. Or maybe 13 fig trees and 13 maples turned the peaches bad.
