I'm on my way...at 73 now, and closing in on 74. *pants*

I actually started a druid over on Turaylon (the tar valon realm).  I almost have him to 80....

 

wait... 8... that makes more sense....

I'm insanely jealous of both druids and paladins, as the only classes that can effectively play all 3 roles (healer, tank, DPS).

 

Although that probably explains why the overwhelming majority of players are one of those classes, with the DK rounding out the top 3.

 

Once my shammy is lvl 80, I'm probably gonna turn my attention to trying out a tank role.  My warrior is lvl 26, but I'm not sure I like the threat management of the warrior.  As a healer (Resto Shammy), I prefer healing pallys or druids to warriors or DKs....the former two always seem to hold aggro better than the latter 2.

I still find that pallys are the best at multi-target tanking and warriors at single-target tanking.  Since most instances are largely trash, I like healing pallys best.  However, I have the most experience healing bear tanks.  My only gripe about bears is that your dps has to not be morons because you only have so many tricks to get agro back.  I suppose that's the case with most classes, but our pallys and warriors had more success.  We had a dps warrior who just coudn't understand he should focus on the tank's target and we spent MUCH more time healing him than the tank on trash.  (He tried swapping from DPS to tank at one point... BAD idea!  He held agro a lot better as DPS.)

 

When DKs first came out, I loved healing them.  They kicked the butt off any tank we had, even the better geared ones.  It was a cakewalk and half the time I ended up DPSing until the bosses.  Then they nerfed the DK.  They can still tank, but they don't rock quite as hard.  The other negative of the DK is that it seems to be an idiot-heavy class.  Not saying all DKs are idiots (I actually know quite a few smart DKs) just that every DK I've been in a pick-up group with has been a moron.

Canuk, at level 18 what should my rotation be for tanking?  I seem to loose threat quite often... mainly because the dps I am with attack the other things i am not focused on.... but that is another matter. 

maul, swipe if you have it, mangle if you have it, faerie fire, growl

 

maul

swipe when more than 1 mob

mangle when just one mob

faerie fire everything

growl when you loose the attention of one.

it's hard to keep agro off warriors and pallies because you only have 1 taunt effect and low level warriors and pallies are idiots and like to dps tank.

 

druids are not effective tanks at lower levels.

Ok looks like I was doing good.  I just got FF last night so will throw that in as well.  I wish it were AOE though (FF that is).  I did find tanking with Pally easier.  Hopefully at 20 I get some fresh talents to beef up the tanking.

I think I am going to go restro until I get higher.  Tanking this low isn't much fun.  I am ok with one or two people, but with more I cant control it. 

I totally hear you.  i played as a balance druid until i hit level 20 and got catform.  I didn't get into bear tanking until i was level 62

Tanking seems to get easier when you get that "Focus all enemies on me in 10 yard radius" spell.  I am still healing though.  Will hit 30 today.

 

Heidi is back.  She plans to be on lots this week.  Sweet!

I don't know if I'd even remember how to play my druid anymore.  I leveled her 1-60 back before they buffed forms and only very rarely grouped.  It was painful.  Cat form was like saying "please kill me" to mobs that were a couple levels lower than me.  I did the 60-70 climb with her, but she's stalled out there and hasn't been touched since about a year before WotLK came out.

yeah, i remember those times.  i had to be careful and hope my pounce criticaled if i was going up against a mob a level higher then me.  if it was two levels higher i would just die anyways.

Hey anyone still playing in the SG guild? Empy did you move to a different realm?

i've been playing my horde on sen'jin the last few days.  and empy left us.

Empy has been leveling on another realm with some TV peeps.  He'll be back.

 

Couple of points:

 

I saw FDM come online the other night!  Wohoo!  I was in an instance, so I couldn't really say anything, though.  *sad*

So I finally leveled my Death Knight to 80 and have begun the long process of getting respectable gear.

 

My Priest is pretty pimped now. I am involved in some late night raids and we are making the final push to the Lich King over the next week.

 

I also in the midst of leveling a Pally Tank (64) and Healing Shaman (47) through recruit a friend xp.

So I finally leveled my Death Knight to 80 and have begun the long process of getting respectable gear.
