I loved Donna as the Companion. Although Amy and Rory brought an interesting dynamic to the show with having a married couple as companions. I might add this show to my queue sometime... when my queue is a little smaller.

Sarah Jane was the definitive companion

I thought they both brought something very different to the table, Donna had waaaay more comic moments, whereas Rose was meant to be more heartfelt.

I love Jack but aot of that comes from watching Torchwood too. Was never a fan of Mickey but the whole Ricky season long joke setup made him totally worth it. K9 was okay but annoying. Strax was fairly useless but had some good laughs nonetheless. Can't forget about Wilph though!
