Hello Warders!

My recently raised Blue is interested in learning some swordplay.  Would any Warders be willing to work with her at all (Am I allowed to do this?).

You're allowed, from our end.

Just have to get permission from the WT...

Yep, just need permission from the White Tower and we can take you to WS 3 as I recall...

Nah, Kira's allowed to reach WS5 from my recalling, because she is a Blue. Even then, she can go higher, but it would mean for every WS she gains, she would lose one point in using the OP.

Only Reds and Greens are allowed to go as high as WS10 without losing OP skill.

Good to know. Though Lor doesn't seem to have been on recently.

If an AS can go to 10 then the rules have changed a lot since I did Lor's WS, because then it was only to 7 and only Greens could be above 3...  Speaking of Lor, she should be on tonight, I know she had stuff going on the last couple of nights.

Just so it's covered, the current rules are that any AS can go up to 5 (with an OK from the ADL), anything higher has to have a very good reason and some serious work to get approved.

There is also a set of threads that must be completed here: http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/42265-as-and-weapons-training-under-construction/

Please note that playing with swords doesn't happen until you're working on WS4. I'm posting that thread here so that everyone is aware of it, including the warders doing the trainings.

Also, be aware that this could (and probably will) change, but that I'm grandfathering Kira in since you got to me before I could get my mean oldbie hands on it! Like Kyn said, when I was growing up, only Greens got to play with sharp pointy things. Which is, honestly, how I personally think it should be unless you have a really good reason to need that stuff. (See? Told you I was old and mean!)

I'd personally think staves or quarter-staffs to be more useful than sharp pointy swords. Plus, a woman carrying a sword would draw more attention than one that's carrying a harmless walking stick.

She would be ok with working with a staff.  She actually does have a reason for wanting to learn some weapons training.  Her cause is education and with that is included preparations for emergencies for cities to prepare for possible seiges and battles that may occur during the Last Battle.  When escorting civvies out of a town it might be better to have something else to use besides the power to help stave off trollocs lol.

Glad I could help! :-)

Don't forget I have Ed, a TG, too! She'll be happy to hit you with a stick, if you need it.
