TV Jaw Dropping moments

Basically what moments in TV (recent or futher back) that made you go "Holy Sh*t!". It is not often a show catches me off guard but here are a few that I can remember.

Buffy and Spike getting it on for the first time. I remember the loud zip of his pants clearly.

Exodus Part 2 when the Galatica jumps into the atmosphere of New Caprica and then jumps out again.

I will have more as I think on this...

Word on the "Exodus" love. "He did WHAT??? WITH THE ENTIRE BATTLE STAR????"

I think the entire episode "Smile Time" for Angel qualifies for me. Its the one where Angel is turned into a muppet and they fight the demonic muppets of a popular kids TV show. The bit where Wesley ripps off Horatio's horn and stabs him in the eye with it, stuffing flying every where, stands out in particular. Its the kind of violence that can only be shown with puppets.

Lost - When Michael shoots Anna Marie and Libby.

There is a reason I watch some shows real time and these shocking moments are why. I would hate to have it stolen because I heard about it before I watched it.

The whole Angel episode where he and Buffy reunite and are eating ice cream in bed and everything and then he has to give it up and he's the only one who remembers it. not quite jaw dropping suspense, but still hard-hitting, likewise with Joyce's death. And when Betty jumps in to the white cliffs of Dover in Dead Like Me.

Empy already mentioned the BSG moment with Adama jumping the ship in to the atmosphere, I was also pretty shocked when Boomer shot Adama.

When Lana was killed in the car accident on Smallville. I was so happy but then I noticed that there were 30 minutes left.

New York getting nuked at the end of the first episode of Heroes.

The Centauri fleet obliterating the Narn homeworld in the Babylon 5 episode The Long, Twilight Struggle, coming just one week after a regular character is exposed as a sleeper agent and is effectively killed off for good with no warning (in Divided Loyalties).

When Vaughn figures out how to escape from being trapped in a sealed warehouse with four cryogenic freezers about to open and disgorge vampires to kill him in the brilliant Channel 4 mini-series Ultraviolet.

When Sisko betrays the fundamental principles of the Federation to bring the Romulans into the war against the Dominion in Deep Space Nine's In the Pale Moonlight.

The final episode of Blake's 7, when the entire cast is wiped out.

That cliffhanger ending to Star Trek: The Next Generation's The Best of Both Worlds.

Fred being consumed and taken over by Ilyria in Angel. And her later reaction to the wizard after he murders Wesley in the final episode.

I'm not sure if this counts, but during the half time show of the o so famous superbowl game. Apparently there was a "wardrobe malfunction". I cant think of anyother tv moment that would shock more.

When seeing Hurley's numbers on the hatch in Lost.

Nathan Petrelli's flying maneuver on Heroes. I mean, I figured he was going to fly, but Jeez! I didn't expect the speed or the loopey loops. I believe I exclaimed a "holy F___!"

The episode of Buffy where Spike wakes up from a dream about Buffy and realizes he has a thing for her.

When Corrado shoots Anthony on the Sopranos (likewise, when Adriane was killed)

When Joss nearly killed everyone off during Serenity!!!! I know it's not TV, but from TV, and still, wtf!!

The first time I watched the first Harry Potter movie (not having read the books) and saw Hogwarts, totally sucked in. Again, not TV, but what the heck.

Pumpkin spittin' on New York!

The Challenger explosion. They cut away from Sesame Street (yeah, young, shoot me) to show the launch live, and then all of a sudden it exploded and no one knew what was going on.

Jim and Pam kiss on The Office

I'm not sure if it counts, but my jaw dropped when I tuned in to watch Firefly and it wasn't there. The cancellation was a total shock to me.

The biggest moment of all in my book was when they cut into the morning news with the announcment that the towers had been hit on 9-11.

I was actually getting read to post 9-11.

I didn't get into Firefly while it was on the air. I got the DVD's for Christmas one year and fell in love with them then.

I remember standing in the ETC at my university watching the Towers collapsing that morning. Pretty much everyone around me was crying. I didn't understand what the big deal was, they got everyone out before they fell right? Nope, not the case.

by the time I saw a television that day I wasn't in quite as much shock about it (I'd been hearing about it since the first plane hit)... in a way I was caught more off guard by the fact that so many websites were down.

hrm. It's going to be hard to come back from that serious note...

Fall of the Berlin wall? I remember being an idealistic kid and having this strong feeling about how it meant that the world would be changing.

Ross and Rachel's kiss?

Err, sorry to bring down the thread.

When Chris got voted off AI last season. He was WAY better than Katherine.

Yeah, my dropped too when he got voted off, but that was because I couldn't stop laughing. The look on his face was priceless.

In Season 1 of Lost where that dynamite dude randomly blows up. Ernst? What was his name... anyhow. That totally (no pun) blew my mind, and I learned NOT to underestimate that show. So many little spine-tingling moments from that show.

yeah, that was a really good jaw dropping moment. I think that sometimes Lost goes overboard with jaw dropping moments and so they lose some of their effect, but that one was a good one. As was seeing the Others' side of the island (though I knew what was coming with that one because I heard about it before watching it).

I got excited!!! I couldn't help myself....

West Wing - When the president's secretary died in a car accident.

West Wing - Josh and the president shot.

West Wing - Josh and Donna finally hook up.

Marry me in Grays Anatomy last week. I didn't see either of them coming.

That is all I have to say about that.

But, back on topic, When Terrance grabbed Lincoln's gun last week on Prison Break.... and what followed.

I never got into Prison break. I think I already have a full TV schedule...

The Scrubs episode My Screwup. It's from season 3 and starring Brendan Fraser. You'll probably know if you've seen it. Won't give any spoilers, but the episode ends with a really great jaw-dropping moment, imo.
